The Primary Election is Tuesday, August 4, 2020 from 7am - 8pm ET.

Monica Ross-Williams is a resident of Ypsilanti Township since 2000, Current Ypsilanti Township Trustee since 2016, former Ypsilanti Township Parks Commissioner from 2011-2016, lifelong Ypsilanti Area Resident, Business Owner and Community Activist.

Since November 20, 2016, Monica has dutifully served the 57,000 residents of Ypsilanti Township as one of four Ypsilanti Township Trustees taking an active role to move the community forward.

As Ypsilanti Township Treasurer, Monica promises to continue Ypsilanti Township 's sound financial stewardship by:

*Ensuring sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and investment requirements.

*Maintaining uniform chart of accounts, Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP).

*Oversee proper internal control to manage general property tax administration process, including collection and distribution of tax revenues

*Implement sound cash management procedures and proper handling of funds, including knowledge of investment instruments and legal limitations on investments.

Graduating from former Ypsilanti High School in the former Ypsilanti Public Schools District, Monica continued her educational pursuits earning an Associates Degree in Applied Science (A.A.S.) - Criminal Justice/Correctional Science from Washtenaw Community College.

In 2004, she received a Bachelors of Business Administration (B.B.A.) - Business Management from Cleary University.

Monica returned to her Alma Mater to complete an Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Organizational Leadership in 2013, and currently sits as Treasurer of the Cleary University Alumni Association serving over 15,000 Alum.

Monica has worked in the Educational and Recreational Software industry since 2015, as a Senior Account Executive, and has owned ROJS Media, LLC since 2008.

Prior to starting ROJS Media, LLC, she was the owner of ServiceMaster Building Services of Wayne County from 2007-2010. Monica started the business after being chosen from rigorous competition for the prestigious Shane Battier (NBA Professional Basketball Player) ServiceMaster Business Scholarship Award worth $25,000.

In addition to her business ventures, Monica previously served Adjunct Instructor of Business Education at Washtenaw Community College.

Personally, Monica's hobbies include cultivating her two adult children, one Grandchild, taking care of her great husband, family Chow-Chow Princess and reading a variety of news resources.

Monica plans on continuing Ypsilanti Township's Strong Financial Stewardship in the role of Treasurer by :

Ensuring sufficient funds are available to meet Ypsilanti Township's ongoing operational and investment requirements.

*Maintaining Uniform Chart of Accounts for Municipal Management using the Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP).

*Overseeing proper internal controls to manage the general property tax administration process, including collection and distribution of tax revenues

*Implementation of sound cash management procedures and proper handling of funds, including knowledge of investment instruments and legal limitations on investments.

Maintains principal knowledge of the township budget and ability to project reasonable cash flows on an annual basis.

Going forward into this decade and beyond, for Ypsilanti Township to grow Monica believes the community must embark upon Sound 21st Century Economic Development Strategy with the Ypsilanti Township 2040 Master Plan as noted here:


Protecting Public...

Currently serving as one of Ypsilanti Township's Trustees since 2016 and as an Elected Ypsilanti Township Park Commissioner for five and one half years prior, Monica continues to be a strong advocate for protecting the Township's 27 Community and Neighborhood Parks.

Monica recently served in her current role as Ypsilanti Township Trustee, on the Ypsilanti Township 2040 Parks and Recreation Master Plan Steering Committee who completed the following plan in 2018:

Starting this quest to be your next Ypsilanti Township Treasurer in 2020, I have learned many life lessons that will remain instilled in my heart forever.

The upmost importance of maintaining sound financial stewardship for Ypsilanti Township can continuing being a place families and individuals can work, live, play and grow.

The importance of active listening to learn what you desire for your Township to be and become.

The importance of supporting our small and medium sized business community to keep jobs and entrepreneurship ideas reaching their maximum potential in an area we all call home.

How the power of one can inspire many to enact necessary change for enhancing the diverse mix of cultures, richly existing throughout our wonderful community.

How residents joining as a force of conviction can ensure their neighborhoods remain a safe place to grow, thrive and raise a family.

The natural resources of land, water, lakes and streams located in heavenly abundance throughout our Ypsilanti Township.

Attending thirty-two neighborhood watch meetings, numerous forums, debates, gatherings, houses of worship and other events; I have been truly blessed since this campaign begun to meet, talk with and listen to YOUR ideas on what ways YOU want Ypsilanti Township thrive in the years ahead.

I vow to do just that.

To represent YOU, no matter if you live in the South, West, East or North ends of the Township and anywhere in between.

Because my mission in this campaign quest was never about me.

It was always and will forever remain about YOU.

Specifically, what I can do to lead the path YOU desire to make Ypsilanti Township the BEST PLACE to LIVE, WORK and LEARN for YOU and YOURS.
